Check nonstick pans for scratches, peeling, or discoloration. Replace pans when the coating is visibly damaged — damaged nonstick reduces performance and may release particles. Avoid metal utensils and high heat to extend coating life.
For cast iron or enameled cast iron (Le Creuset), hand wash with mild soap and dry immediately. Re-season bare cast iron periodically by applying a thin coat of oil and baking at 450F for one hour. Never soak enameled pieces or use steel wool.
