Troubleshooting
View all →Common Failure Modes
Dripping is the most common issue, usually fixed by replacing a worn internal cartridge. Pull-down hoses can fray or leak over time.
Maintenance
View all →Clean Aerator
Sediment blocks the aerator screen, reducing flow. Cleaning restores water pressure.
Clean aerator screen monthly
Unscrew the aerator from the spout tip and soak in white vinegar for 30 minutes to dissolve mineral deposits. Brush clean with an old toothbrush. A clogged aerator reduces water pressure and causes uneven spray.
Inspect supply lines and valves
Check under-sink braided supply lines for bulging, corrosion, or moisture every 6 months. Replace supply lines every 8-10 years preventively. Test shutoff valves by turning them — seized valves are useless in emergencies.
Replace cartridge or washer when dripping
A dripping faucet wastes 3,000+ gallons per year. Single-handle faucets use a cartridge; two-handle use washers. Replace at the first sign of dripping — parts cost $5-20 and prevent water damage.
