Troubleshooting
View all →Common Failure Modes
Desilvering (black spots on edges) occurs when moisture attacks the backing. Frame separation or physical breakage are the only other risks.
Maintenance
View all →Check wall mounting hardware
Inspect D-rings, wire, and wall anchors every 6 months. Heavy mirrors can pull anchors from drywall over time. Use toggle bolts for mirrors over 25 pounds if not mounted into studs.
Clean Glass
Dirty mirrors degrade the room's aesthetic. Regular cleaning ensures reflection clarity.
Clean glass without streaks
Spray glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth, not directly on the mirror. Direct spraying allows liquid to seep behind the glass and damage the silvering. Wipe in Z-pattern for streak-free results.
Inspect frame for damage
Check wooden frames for cracks, and metal frames for tarnish or rust spots annually. Apply appropriate touch-up finish to prevent degradation from spreading.
