Wipe down reflectors and heating elements with a soft cloth to remove dust, debris, and spider webs. Dirty reflectors reduce heat output significantly. For electric infrared heaters, inspect the quartz tube for cracks.
Inspect gas connections and hoses
For propane patio heaters, check all gas connections with soapy water to detect leaks (look for bubbles). Replace cracked or worn hoses. Ensure the propane tank is not expired (check the stamp date — tanks expire after 12 years).
