Troubleshooting

Common Failure Modes

Inkjet printers almost always fail due to dried and clogged printheads from infrequent use. Laser printers are much more robust but may eventually require fuser or drum replacements after thousands of pages.

Maintenance

Empty Waste Ink Pad

Some printers have a waste ink pad that absorbs excess ink during cleaning cycles. Inspecting or replacing this prevents severe internal ink spills.

Run Printhead Cleaning

Inkjet printers can suffer from clogged nozzles if unused. Running a cleaning cycle flushes dried ink and restores crisp print quality.

Wipe Pick-up Rollers

Paper dust coats rubber feed rollers, causing paper jams or misfeeds. Wiping them restores friction so they can grab paper effectively.
